VILLAGE

Luffy throws his arms wide in the air, shouting "VICTORY!!" with a loud "DO-N" sound effect. In the next panel, Luffy stands with his hands on his hips, smiling at Nami who is holding a large sack. He asks, "NOW YOU'RE GONNA BECOME MY CREW MEMBER, RIGHT?" Nami replies, "I'M JUST COOPERATING WITH YOU WHILE IT SERVES MY PURPOSE, REMEMBER THAT! I'LL SAY OKAY FOR NOW, SINCE IT SEEMS THAT IF I GO ALONG WITH YOU GUYS I'LL BE ABLE TO EARN A LOT!" In the bottom panel, Nami happily hugs the large sack of treasure, a heart floating near her head with a "BAFU" sound effect. She says, "BUGGY SAID THAT HE ONLY TAKES THE BEST TREASURES FOR HIMSELF, SO THIS BAG'S CONTENTS ARE OF THE HIGHEST QUALITY! THIS MUCH TREASURE SHOULD BE WORTH AT LEAST 10 MILLION BELI!!"

A wide view of the town street shows several of Buggy's pirates lying unconscious on the ground. In the foreground, Zoro lies face down, motionless. Further down the street, Nami and Luffy stand together. Nami says, "I'VE DIVIDED IT INTO TWO BAGS SO YOU HOLD HALF OF IT. THIS TREASURE IS SO HEAVY THAT CARRYING IT ALONE IS DIFFICULT." A loud "BA---N!" sound effect rings out. Luffy looks down with a "!" of surprise. Nami observes him quietly, then asks, "......... THAT HAT... IS IT THAT PRECIOUS TO YOU??" Luffy smiles broadly, pulling the straw hat firmly onto his head with a "PULLS!" motion. He answers, "YEAH, BUT IT'S ALRIGHT. I FEEL BETTER NOW THAT I GOT RID OF BUGGY!!"

Two of Buggy's pirates, battered and hiding behind wooden debris, tremble with a "GAKU..." sound. One whispers, "...HEY, CAPTAIN BUGGY GOT KNOCKED OUT OF SIGHT. WHAT... SHOULD WE DO?" The other replies, "FOR NOW LET'S PRETEND WE'RE STILL PASSED OUT." The first agrees, "THAT'S A GOOD IDEA." Nearby, Luffy crouches beside the prone Zoro, patting his back with a "PAT! PAT!" sound. "OI ZORO, GET UP! LET'S GO," Luffy says. Zoro groans, "HMM?" Zoro sits up with a "MUKU..." sound, looking over his shoulder at Luffy. ".........! DID YOU FINISH THE FIGHT...?" he asks. Luffy grins, "YEAH, WE ALSO GOT THE MAP AND THE TREASURE." Zoro remains seated, holding his head. "...AAH I DON'T THINK I CAN WALK YET. FEELS DIZZY..." Nami, standing nearby, remarks, "OBVIOUSLY! IF YOU GUYS CAN STILL WALK, THEN YOU AREN'T HUMAN..." Luffy looks confused and asks, "WHY DID YOU INCLUDE ME?" Nami yells back angrily, "YOU'RE THE WEIRDEST!!"

The page opens with a view of the town street. In the foreground, the back of a villager's head is visible. Further down the street, Luffy and Nami stand near the unconscious bodies of Buggy's pirates. Voices from off-panel say, "OH YEAH" and "I'LL WAKE UP THE CHIEF!". Another voice calls out, "YOU GUYS...". In the next panel, a group of armed villagers approaches. The man in the front, wearing a diamond-patterned shirt and carrying a sword over his shoulder, announces, "WE'RE THE PEOPLE OF THIS VILLAGE". He asks, "DID THE PIRATES STIR UP A FIGHT AMONGST THEMSELVES...? IF YOU KNOW ANYTHING PLEASE TELL US...". In the bottom panel, Nami smiles warmly and replies, "OH... SO YOU'RE THE VILLAGERS". She continues, "I THINK SOME OF THE PIRATE CREW ARE STILL HERE", and adds, "IF YOU WANT US TO TELL YOU THEN THERE ISN'T ANYTHING MUCH LEFT TO TELL YOU...". Suddenly, a panicked voice from off-panel interrupts, shouting, "AH!! CHIEF!!".

The villagers rush past Luffy and Nami, gathering anxiously around the unconscious body of their Chief, Boodle, who lies face down on the ground. They cry out in distress, "GOODNESS GRACIOUS!! PLEASE GET UP!", "DAMMIT!! WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED HERE!?", and "IT'S DEFINITELY THE WORK OF THOSE PIRATES!!". In the middle panel, Luffy stands calmly. A voice says, "AH, SORRY...", before Luffy bluntly declares, "I DID THAT TO THE CHIEF!". A large "DO-N" sound effect emphasizes his confession. In the bottom panel, the villagers whip around to face him, their expressions twisting into fierce, angry glares accompanied by a "GIRO!!" sound effect. They shout, "WHAT?!". Nami, sweating nervously, turns to Luffy and scolds him, "HEY! WHY DID YOU TELL THEM THAT KINDA THING ON PURPOSE...". Luffy simply replies, "YOU SAW ME DO IT, RIGHT?...". Nami yells back, "I KNOW, BUT STILL!! THAT WAS BECAUSE YOU HAD A GOOD REASON...".

The angry villagers point their spears and swords threateningly at Luffy and Nami. They shout, "ALL OF YOU, HOW DARE YOU DO THIS TO OUR CHIEF...", "IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT SORT OF EXCUSE YOU GIVE US!!", and "WHO THE HELL ARE YOU!? COULD YOU BE PIRATES!?". In a separate panel, Nami sweats profusely, thinking to herself, "OOH... IF WE DIDN'T KNOW ANY BETTER, AND JUST SAID 'WE'RE THIEVES' OR 'WE'RE PIRATES' THEN IT'D BE INSTANT DEATH...!!". However, in the large middle panel, Luffy stands with his back to the viewer, facing the armed mob, and loudly proclaims, "WE ARE PIRATES!!". A massive "DO-N!!!" sound effect rings out as Nami recoils in absolute shock. In the bottom right panel, the villagers ready their weapons with a "ZA" sound, yelling, "SO YOU ARE!!". In the background, Zoro, who is sitting on the ground, laughs, "HAHAHA". In the bottom left panel, Nami furiously screams at Luffy with sharp teeth, "BAKA!!". Luffy calmly responds, "BUT IT'S THE TRUTH!!".

Luffy suddenly takes off running, carrying Zoro over his shoulder. Nami runs ahead of him, clutching her large sack of treasure. Luffy yells, "LET'S RUN AWAY!". In the background, the angry villagers give chase, shouting, "AAH! THEY'RE RUNNING AWAY!!" and "CHASE THEM!!". Nami cries out, "YIPES!!", as they flee with a "DADA" running sound effect. In the next panel, the villagers pursue them relentlessly with their weapons drawn, yelling, "WE WON'T LET YOU GET AWAY!!" and "WE'LL PAY YOU BACK FOR WHAT YOU DID TO THE CHIEF!!". A small panel shows a close-up of the unconscious Chief Boodle's face, his eyes closed and a stern expression on his features. In the bottom panel, Nami looks back over her shoulder as she runs, angrily asking Luffy, "WHY THE HELL DID YOU MAKE THE SITUATION MORE COMPLICATED?". Luffy, smiling broadly as he runs with Zoro, cheerfully replies, "THIS IS A GOOD VILLAGE!!". Nami looks completely bewildered, responding, "WHA..?".

The page begins with a close-up of Boodle, the town chief, looking serious in profile. A voice notes, "THEY'RE ALL GETTING THAT MAD! FOR THEIR CHIEF, FOR JUST ONE PERSON...". Next to this, Luffy is shown smiling as he runs. Behind them, the angry villagers charge forward with swords and spears raised, shouting with a roaring "OOOO" sound effect. In the middle row, a villager points down a narrow street, yelling, "THEY'RE RUNNING AWAY THROUGH AN ALLEY!". Luffy and Nami sprint down the alleyway with a "DADA" running sound effect. Luffy carries the unconscious Zoro over his shoulder, still grinning, while Nami clutches her large sack of treasure. Nami looks back nervously, thinking, "NO MATTER WHAT EXCUSE WE GIVE, THEY'LL STILL BE MAD AT US!!". In the bottom panels, the pursuing villagers suddenly skid to a halt with a loud "KIKI" sound effect, one of them crying out, "OOH!". Blocking their path is the small white dog, Chouchou, his head wrapped in bandages. He glares fiercely at the villagers and barks a loud "WOOF!!!".

The villagers stand halted in the alleyway, frustrated by the small dog blocking their path. One villager yells, "THOSE GUYS ARE BAD PIRATES!!" while another pleads, "HEY, SHUSHU! MOVE OUT OF THE WAY, QUICKLY!!". Chouchou responds with a defiant "WOOF!! WOOF!!". Further down the alley, Luffy looks back over his shoulder in surprise, exclaiming, "AAH, THAT DOG!". Nami also looks back, recognizing him: "SHUSHU!". A wider view of the alley shows Chouchou standing firmly between the fleeing pirates and the angry mob. The villagers shout, "WHY ARE YOU STOPPING US? SHUSHU!!", but the dog just barks back, "WOOF WOOF!!". A close-up shows Chouchou growling menacingly, "GRRRRR...!", his bandaged face set in determination. Luffy smiles warmly as he watches the dog defend them. Chouchou continues to bark aggressively, "WOOF!!! WOOF!!!", prompting an enraged villager with a prominent chin to scream, "MOVE OUT OF THE WAY NOW!! SHUSHU!!".

Luffy and Nami walk casually toward the harbor, leaving the town behind. Nami sighs in relief, "HUA... WAS GETTING PRETTY WORRIED. THANKS TO SHUSHU WE BARELY GOT AWAY". Luffy, still carrying Zoro, asks, "WHY DOES IT ALWAYS END UP THIS WAY?". Nami dismisses the concern, "WHO CARES WHAT THEY THINK... WE DID WHAT WE CAME TO DO!". Luffy replies, "WELL, IT'S NOT QUITE LIKE THAT". They arrive at a stone pier where a small boat with a striped sail is docked. Luffy looks at it and asks, "IS THIS YOUR BOAT?". Nami explains, "I STOLE IT FROM A BUNCH OF STUPID PIRATES". Luffy is impressed, "WAH! IT'S COOL. I ENVY YOU", to which Nami modestly replies, "I DON'T THINK SO,". Suddenly, two dark figures rise from inside the boat with a "GABA" sound effect. One of them calls out, "WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU, THIEF!!". Nami gasps "AH!!" and Luffy says "EH!?".

Three of Buggy's pirates stand up in the small boat, striking intimidating poses with a dramatic "DO-N" sound effect. The pirate on the right smirks, "WE KNEW YOU'D COME BACK IF WE STAYED HERE". The one in the middle laughs, "HEHEHEHE! I NEVER DREAMED THAT WE'D SEE THIS BOAT AGAIN IN THIS VERY HARBOR AFTER YOU STOLE IT". The burly pirate on the left adds, "YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO SAY THAT YOU'VE FORGOTTEN US...!!". Nami looks at them, slightly surprised, "YOU... YOU GUYS ARE...". Luffy turns to her and asks, "YOU KNOW THEM?". Nami replies hesitantly, "HMM...! SORT OF...". The pirates overhear and shout angrily from the boat, "'SORT OF'!? WE HAVE A LONG HISTORY!". The pirates continue their threats: "SO YOU HAVE A GANG NOW?", "I GUESS WE GET TO TEACH YOU ALL A LESSON", and "STEALING FROM OTHERS IS SUCH A TERRIBLE THING TO DO,". Completely ignoring them, Luffy is busy slapping the unconscious Zoro's face with a "PAT! PAT!" sound. Luffy laughs, "HAHAHA, MAN, DON'T FAINT LIKE A COWARD! STUPID! HEY, HOLD YOUR FACE UP PROPERLY!". The pirates watch this bizarre behavior in confusion.

The page opens with a close-up of Zoro looking bewildered, a drop of sweat on his face, as he says, "HUH!?". In the next panel, the three Buggy pirates who were just confronting them are suddenly sent flying high into the air, flailing their limbs and screaming with a loud "!!!?". The large bottom panel shows the three pirates crashing violently into the wooden debris of the ruined town with a massive "ZAZAZAZA" impact sound. They scream "AAAAHHHHHHH!!!" as they tumble through the wreckage. In the foreground, Zoro looks back over his shoulder at the chaotic crash, still confused, uttering another "HUH?".

The villagers gather anxiously around their Chief, Boodle, who is now sitting up and holding his head, recovering from being knocked unconscious. A villager exclaims, "AAH! CHIEF, YOU'RE AWAKE!". Boodle groans, "YEAH...". Another villager says, "I'M SO GLAD YOU'RE ALRIGHT!! JUST WHAT ON EARTH HAPPENED, CHIEF?!". In the middle panel, Boodle looks out over the rubble of the destroyed town with a loud "DO-N!" sound effect. A villager explains, "THIS... WHEN WE CAME IT WAS ALREADY LIKE THIS. DID YOU SEE ANYTHING?". In the bottom row, Boodle's eyes widen in shock with a "!!!" as a villager mentions, "AH! UNTIL JUST A WHILE AGO THESE THREE WEIRD GUYS WERE...". Another villager adds, "THOSE KIDS...". Boodle urgently interrupts, asking, "WERE THOSE KIDS STILL ALIVE...!!?".

Boodle clenches his teeth in anger, a "GAN!!" sound effect behind him, as he mutters, "...THAT IDIOT!!! DOING SUCH A RUDE THING TO AN OLD GUY LIKE ME! HOW DARE HE!!". A villager tries to reassure him, "DON'T WORRY. WE CHASED THOSE IDIOTS AWAY". Another villager adds angrily, "BUT I'M STILL PRETTY MAD. IT WAS LIKE THEY WERE LAUGHING AT US!! THOSE KIDS DON'T KNOW HOW MAD WE ARE ABOUT THE DAMAGE DONE TO OUR VILLAGE". Suddenly, Boodle turns to the crowd and roars, "SHUT UP!!". The villagers recoil in surprise. A dramatic close-up shows Boodle glaring fiercely as he declares, "ONLY ONE PERSON HAS THE RIGHT TO BE MAD AT THOSE KIDS... ONLY ME! I WON'T FORGIVE ANYONE WHO SAYS ANYTHING BAD ABOUT THOSE KIDS OTHER THAN ME!!!". In the bottom panel, the villagers look baffled. One asks, "WHY ARE YOU SIDING WITH THOSE PIRATES CHIEF!!". Another asks, "ARE THOSE KIDS JUST GONNA DISAPPEAR NOW!?". Boodle bends forward tensely, still furious and focused on the departing kids.

Boodle finishes adjusting his armor with a "CLICK CLICK" and asks, "DID THEY GO TO THE HARBOR!?". A villager confirms, "YES...!! THEY RAN OFF IN THE DIRECTION OF THE HARBOR...!!". Suddenly, Boodle takes off running with a "DADA!!" sound effect. The villagers call out in surprise, "AAH! CHIEF!!". In the middle panel, Boodle sprints furiously down the street with a rapid "DADADADA" running sound, his spear clanking against the ground with a "SFX: CLANK". He shouts, "DAMMIT!!! COMING INTO MY VILLAGE AND MESSING AROUND AND THEN LEAVING WITHOUT MY PERMISSION...!! THE NUMBER OF THINGS I HAVE TO SAY TO YOU ARE PILED LIKE A MOUNTAIN!!!". The bottom panel shows the small boat with a pirate Jolly Roger sail catching the wind with a "BASA! BASA!" sound effect as it leaves the harbor. A voice from the boat calls out, "OKAY, LET'S GO!".

The page opens with a view of two small boats sailing away from the town. One boat has a striped sail, while the other flies a black sail with Buggy's jolly roger. A voice points out, "HEY, THAT FLAG HAS BUGGY'S MARK ON IT". Another voice replies, "IT WAS THOSE PIRATES' BOAT SO OF COURSE IT DOES. I'LL ERASE IT LATER". In the next panel, Zoro is seen from behind, looking back at the town from one of the boats. He smirks and says, "FUH!". From the town, a voice yells, "I STILL HAVE TONS TO SAY TO YOU...!!". In the middle panel, Luffy stands at the back of his boat, looking toward the pier. On the pier, Boodle stands with his arms wide, yelling, "STOP RIGHT THERE YOU MORONS!!!". Luffy calls back, "MISTER CHIEF!". The bottom row of panels shows the characters' reactions. On the right, a close-up of Boodle shows him panting heavily with a "PANT PANT" sound. He says, "I REALLY THOUGHT IT WAS OKAY FOR ME TO DIE AT THAT TIME...!! IN MY DESPAIR, I CONSIDERED DEATH TO BE NOTHING...!!". The next three panels show close-ups of Luffy, Zoro, and Nami, all looking back silently toward the town.

The page features a large, dramatic top panel showing a close-up of Boodle. He is crying loudly, tears streaming down his face as he shouts with his mouth wide open, "I'M SORRY!! I OWE YOU!!!". In the middle panel, the scene shifts back to the boat. Luffy bursts into a huge, happy smile. Behind him, Zoro relaxes against the side of the boat, smiling, and Nami stands nearby, also smiling warmly. In the bottom left panel, Boodle is shown in profile, looking down with tears still in his eyes. He says softly, "I DON'T KNOW HOW TO EXPRESS MY GRATITUDE...!!". The bottom right panel shows a wide view of the two boats sailing further away from the pier where Boodle stands. A voice from the boat, likely Luffy, calls out to him, "DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT!! JUST LIVE HAPPY LIVES!!".

The two boats sail on the open sea. Nami yells angrily at Luffy, "WHAT? YOU LEFT THE TREASURE BEHIND!?". Luffy replies, "I GAVE YOU HALF OF IT DIDN'T I!? THAT'S FIVE MILLION BELI!". He explains, "YEAH, BUT SINCE HALF OF THE VILLAGE WAS DESTROYED IT WILL TAKE SOME MONEY TO REPAIR IT". Nami furiously shouts back, "THAT'S MY TREASURE!!". In the next panel, Nami violently shakes Luffy back and forth on the boat. Luffy flails and screams with a "SFX: AAAAA..." sound. He yells, "STOP IT!! I CAN'T SWIM!! IF YOU WANT IT SO BADLY, GO AND TAKE IT BACK FROM THEM!!". Nami retorts, "HOW COULD I DO THAT!? IF YOU EVER DO THAT AGAIN, YOU'RE DEAD!!". Nearby, Zoro throws his head back and laughs uproariously at them, "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...!!". A narration box reads, "THEIR NEW COMPANION, NAMI "THE THIEF" HAS JOINED THE JOURNEY AND THE TWO BOATS CONTINUE SAILING ON THE SEA...". Below it, Nami sticks her tongue out playfully, saying "BA-KA!". Luffy looks at her, annoyed. In the final panel, the boats continue sailing. Zoro asks, "WHAT? YOU'RE LAUGHING..?". Nami snaps, "SHUT UP!". Luffy, sporting a smoking bump on his head with a "BONK!" sound effect, mutters, "IT DOESN'T HURT...". A final narration box at the bottom reads, "BUT THEY DON'T KNOW THAT ON THE NEXT ISLAND THEY LAND AT, "THE FOREST JUDGEMENT" AWAITS...".
