A massive dragon head with horns and a sword embedded in its skull plummets through the air above Onigashima amid heavy impact effects and debris. Luffy's voice shouts, "LUFFY, WAIT! THAT CAN'T BE DONE!" while another warns, "MOVE ONIGASHIMA OUT THE WAYI!" and "MOMO'S ANSWER...!!!" The dragon crashes violently. Below, Momonosuke's dragon form writhes in flames with a fierce expression as Kin'emon and others watch. Momonosuke declares, "TO REVIVE THE KOZUKI CLAN IN THE FUTURE!!" and "I KNOW YOU WILL FIND A WAY..." Someone else exclaims, "IT'S NOT..."

He declares "I'LL DEAL WITH HIM MYSELF" as a small figure flees and another character shouts "KURI!!" amid smoke and debris.

Kaido rampages, roaring "MOVE!!" while allies beg "STOP HUNTING THE KOZUKI CLAN!! PLEASE HAVE MERCY!!". Gunfire erupts with "KYAH!! AGH!!" and "DON'T HESITATE TO SHOOT ANY VERMIN... THAT DARES DEFY THEIR SHOGUN!!". A massive declaration proclaims "THE KOZUKI LINE IS OFFICIALLY DEAD!!" as Oden Castle burns. Voices discuss "WHAT OF ODEN'S WIFEI SHE WAS CONFIRMED DEAD IN BAKURA TOWN. NO ONE ELSE WAS SEEN FLEEING THE RUINS OF ODEN CASTLE." Smoke and flames engulf the scene.

A horned, dragon-like figure glares and demands, "WILL YOU HELP US USHER IN A NEW WANOI OR WILL YOU TRY TO WAGE WARI!" Beside him, a crowned man with a wild grin points forward and shouts, "NOW, THE TIME HAS COME FOR YOU DAIMYO TO CHOOSE!!" Four stern figures labeled Kibi, Naku-mai, Ringo, and Udon stand together; one declares, "A STUPID QUESTION......WITH AN OBVIOUS ANSWER!!" In a massive splash panel below, samurai and retainers charge across a burning battlefield filled with dragons and smoke. They roar, "IT IS OUR DUTY TO AVENGE ODEN!!" and "WE REFUSE TO RECOGNIZE A SHOGUN THAT ISN'T A KOZUKI!!" as banners wave and weapons clash.

Dragons twist through the sky amid explosions and falling samurai. A massive dragon head lunges with jaws open. Below, Orochi laughs wildly with a fan, "GUFUFU HAHAHA!!" while a retainer in a patterned robe yells, "DAMMIT!! IF ONLY THAT FOOL DIDN'T HAVE KAIDO BACKING HIM...!!!" Another voice cuts in sharply, "QUIET!! OROCHI HAS EARS EVERYWHERE. KAIDO'S FORCES WILL FIND US!!" Orochi continues mocking, "MUHAHA!! WEAKLINGS!! IT WOULD BE AN INSULT TO CALL ANY OF YOU SAMURAI!!" as chaos and smoke fill the battlefield.

Factories belch smoke as workers are chained and forced to labor. A voice orders, "TRACK DOWN EVERY ABLE-BODIED YOUNG MAN YOU CAN......AND BRING THEM HERE!!" A man cries out in pain, "THIS ENTIRE COUNTRY WILL BECOME OUR WEAPONS FACTORY!!" and "ARGH!" Citizens panic over polluted water: "THERE'S NO MORE DRINKING WATER!!" "WHY HAS THE RIVER GONE DARKI!" A horned soldier points a gun at a pleading mother, "DADDY!!!" "WAIT! PLEASE DON'T TAKE HIM!!" In a desolate wasteland, a skull lies in the dirt while a family huddles under a dead tree. Children wail, "WAAAH!...AND THERE'S NOTHING LEFT TO EAT!" "WAAAH! THE CROPS WON'T GROW..."

A soldier snarls, "DON'T COUNT ON ANY MIRACLES COMING TO SAVE YOU!" and "IF YOU CAN STILL BREATHE, YOU CAN STILL WORK!!" Another barks, "THE BORDERS... ARE STAYIN' CLOSED!!" and "KEEP YOUR HANDS MOVING, YOU SCUM!!" In a crowded area, starving people devour defective SMILE fruits, laughing uncontrollably. Voices jeer, "THEY ACTUALLY ATE THE LEFTOVERS OF THE DEFECTIVE SMILE FRUITS!! GUFUHAHA!!" and "LOOK AT THESE GLUTTONOUS FOOLS, KAIDO!" A massive close-up of a horned figure laughs, "GUFUHA HAHAHA!!" while narration states, "IT'S THE PERFECT FATE FOR THIS COUNTRY'S PESTS!!" and "THEIR BELLIES WILL STAY EMPTY AND THEIR LOVED ONES WILL CONTINUE TO KEEL OVER... THAT'S IT! LET'S HAVE THE REST OF EBISU TOWN FOLLOW SUIT!!"

A massive serpentine dragon rears up in rage, flames and debris erupting around it. "KOMURA-SAKI!!!!" it bellows. Coughing blood, it snarls, "COUGH HEHE... CURSE YOU!!" The beast lunges forward, declaring, "YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE UNDERESTIMATED THE WRATH OF THE KUROZUMI CLAN!!" while seizing its foe. "GUFUHAHA!! I'M TAKING YOU WITH ME!!" A desperate scream rings out, "AHHH!!" In the lower panels, a samurai glances sideways and mutters, "SEEMS THINGS ARE GETTING OUT OF HAND HERE..." The dragon laughs maniacally, "WE CAN DRINK TOGETHER DOWN THERE!! BUHAHAHA!!" and adds, "I'LL BE SEEING YOU IN HELL..." A woman with floral hair ornaments watches the chaos with a calm yet tense expression.

Lanterns float through the air bearing desperate pleas: "FREE US FROM THIS HELL", "GIVE ME A SIP OF CLEAR WATER", and cries of "あああああ". Crowds cheer and wave as the massive dragon coils violently through the sky. A warrior in ornate robes draws his sword and strikes, the impact marked by sharp sound effects. "HAAAA AAAAH!!" a voice screams in agony. The narration box states, "THE PRESENT HEARS THE CRIES OF THE PAST!!" The dragon thrashes wildly as more lanterns drift by with messages like "PLEASE MAKE OROCHI DISAPPEAR". The chapter ends with the logo "ONE PIECE CH. 1048 /END".
