Yuba, Base of the Rebel Forces

A massive sandstorm rages across the desert, palm trees bent violently and sand whipping through the air. Large onomatopoeia “ゴォオオオ” dominates the sky. Vivi stares in shock from the right, shouting “IT'S A SAND-STORM!”. Below, a wide view of Yuba shows buildings half-buried in swirling sand as another voice cries “YUBA'S BEING HIT BY A SAND-STORM!”. On the far right, several figures including a camel rider react with surprise, one exclaiming “!!I”.

The group arrives at the Yuba oasis under a bright moon. A cloaked townsman with a shovel greets them: “Travellers, ehI...Well then, you must be awfully tired.” Vivi reacts with shock “!!” and “Oh my god...”. The oasis is revealed to be dried up, palm trees withered. Luffy yells in panic “Where's the water!I Wasn't this supposed to be an oasis town, ViviI”. Townspeople note “Frankly speaking, there ain't much a difference between here and that abandoned town Elumalu!” and “What a mess...!”. Vivi murmurs “It's swallowed the oasis up! Look at all this sand...”.

Townsman Toto, labeled on a sign, speaks to the group while gripping his shovel. He says “We've got plenty of inns & rooms to spare... That's one of the things Yuba's known for. But you folks still ought to rest here for the night.” Vivi grabs her hood and asks “Excuse me, but I heard the rebel forces were using this town as a base. Is that tr-”. Toto reacts with surprise “You have business with the rebelsI” as the others watch from the background.

An old man in a black cloak suddenly hurls a barrel and smashes objects in a violent outburst. A shocked voice yells, "AHHHHH! W-WHAT'S WITH THIS OLD MAN FLIPPING OUT ALL OF A SUDDENI" while another warns, "DON'T TELL ME YOU'RE ANOTHER BUNCH OF DEGENERATES THAT WANT TO JOIN THE REBELS!" The scene shifts to a vast desert at night under a full moon. A lone cloaked figure kneels in the sand before ruined buildings as narration states, "Are no longer in this town...!" and "Those fools..." In the final panel a group reacts in shock, one man shouting "IT CAN'T BE!" while another yells "WHAT!"

The cloaked elder continues speaking while digging in the sand: "This town's been regularly hit by sandstorms! And because of that, the oasis is now in the sorry state you see before you." He adds, "You saw the sandstorm just now, didn't you... Well, let me tell you that sandstorm wasn't the first one this town's had... Ever since the drought started 3 years ago, trade caravans have since stopped coming here, and the rebels realized they couldn't hold out any longer, so they relocated to Katorea and set up their main base there." Luffy, still hooded, reacts with surprise as Vivi's voice questions, "Vivi...I Did you say Vivi just now...I" The group stares toward the distant town of Nanohana while someone asks, "Why, where's that, ViviI"

Toto stares in disbelief at the hooded girl and asks, "ViviI Princess Vivi, is that really you...I" She snaps, "Umm... No, I'm not... SHUT UP! S-SHE'S NOT PRINCESS VIVI IF THAT'S WHAT YOU'RE THINKING!" Close-ups show Vivi gasping, Toto's wide-eyed recognition, and Vivi smiling while saying, "I'm so glad to see you're still alive! It's me! Don't you recognize meI Guess I can't blame you, I did lose quite a bit of weight..." Toto, tears streaming, declares, "Vivi... I still believe... I still believe in the king! He's not the type that could ever betray his country and subjects...!" Luffy watches silently as Toto asks, "Is that you, TotoI"

Toto pleads in the desert, "PLEASE! YOU HAVE TO STOP THEM...! THOSE REBELS ARE ALL OUT OF THEIR MINDS!" A framed panel reads "Alubarna, 11 years ago" as young Toto tells young Vivi, "...Vivi, you better grow up to be a good princess! YOU'RE THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN!" Vivi answers, "Toto..." The final panel shows the present-day village boy Kouza shouting, "The town dried up...! WHY DIDN'T YOU HELP US!I"

In the palace hall the king sits with a stern expression. "Even as a king, there's nothing I can do about it," he states. "I'm afraid the weather is the domain of gods." A messenger rushes in and kneels. "YOUR MAJESTY! A MAN CALLING HIMSELF AS THIS BOY'S FATHER HAS JUST ENTERED THE PALACE!" Toto, the village boy's father, throws himself to the floor before the throne. "I ACCEPT FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR HIS ACTIONS SO PLEASE PUNISH ME AS YOUR MAJESTY SEES FIT! FORGIVE THE INSOLENCE MY MANNERLESS SON HAS SHOWN, YOUR MAJESTY!" A caption identifies him: "The village boy's father, Toto."

The king leans forward. "You said your name is Toto, correct...I" "Yes, your majesty!" he replies. Guards strike the prostrate man as the king continues, "In the meanwhile, they are permitted to move here to the capital and think about what to do with their lives from now on. The state will provision all homeless villagers affected by the recent drought." Koza bursts in shouting, "I SAID COME BACK! YOU THINK THAT'S SUDDENLY GONNA FIX EVERYTHINGI YOU DON'T HAVE A CLUE HOW THE VILLAGERS FEEL!" A retainer answers, "Your majesty's benevolence! We are grateful from the bottom of our hearts!"

The king smiles faintly. "That means he came all the way here to speak with me for their sake. That's a good son you've raised there. He said 'how the villagers feel' just now." Toto answers nervously, "Y-yes, your majesty!I" Vivi appears in the corridor with a stern glare. "What did you call me, pipsqueakI" "Crybaby!" she snaps back. Elsewhere Igaram confronts a retainer. "YOU FOOL! Wring out the money from the royal family's personal spendings if you have to!" The king sits and replies, "As you wish..."

A panicked voice cries, "PRINCESS VIVI HAS BEEN...!" Vivi stands with a swollen eye and answers flatly, "...And I lost. I got in a fight." Igaram and the king react in shock. "IGARAM, CALM DOWN! HOW DARE THAT BRAT HARM THIS KINGDOM'S PRINCESS! VIVI!" Toto drops to his knees again. "I SHALL COMMIT RITUAL SUICIDE TO ATONE FOR HIS SINS! PLEASE FORGIVE MY SON, YOUR MAJESTY!"

In a tense close-up, a sweating man with a fierce glare snaps, "It's nothing but a kids' fight, that's all!" Nearby, two figures clash violently as one delivers a powerful "DOUBLE KING CHOP!" while another yells, "CALM DOWN, BOTH OF YOU!" The view widens to the grand capital city of Alubarna, its domes and towers rising under scattered clouds as citizens mill about the streets. In the outskirts of the city amid palm trees, a sudden brawl erupts with the shout, "IT'S A FIGHT!"

A group of excited rebels cheers and pumps their fists. "Hey! Did you forget that Kouza's our leader!I" "You can do it, Vivi!" "Yeah, teach that bratty princess a lesson!" "Don't go easy on her 'cause she's the princess, Kouza!" Vivi stands opposite Kouza and declares, "If you win, pipsqueak! If I win, I'm your new leader!" Kouza replies firmly, "I'll have you know I've always been the leader back in my village." The two charge into combat with rapid strikes and impact effects as the crowd watches.

Kouza places a hand on Vivi's shoulder and announces to the gang, "Listen up, guys! From today, Vivi's the vice-leader of our Sand-sand gang! Any complaints with thatI" Vivi smiles confidently. Elsewhere, Igaram and another man discuss the situation: "Yes... Vivi's got herself some new friends." "...Look, Igaram." "NOPE!" King Cobra appears in the distance as onlookers react, "King Cobra's here!" Igaram reflects, "That's the most important thing she can have! In order to govern Alabasta well in the future..."

A villager reports, "He already left home. I'm guessing he's at the usual place right now." "If you're talking about Kouza, Is the leader hereI Good morning, Toto! Ma'am!" Toto smiles and chats with a woman carrying a basket: "Yes, it's proof of this country's peace... For a princess to freely go in and out of the homes of commoners... Haha... What an odd country this is..." Vivi waves, "Yeah! Thanks again! Vivi, will you be having lunch with usI" King Cobra suddenly arrives, startling everyone. "Y-YOU'VE COME TOO!I" "YOUR MAJESTY...!I" He shuffles awkwardly, "Well, I... I can't help it as a concerned father!" Igaram offers, "No, no, I'm fine. I packed myself a little something for the day already. Umm... Do you want lunch as well, IgaramI"

A man in a polka-dot outfit glances back and asks, "Heading out somewhere, are yaI Mind if we accompany yaI" Nearby, another figure calls out, "Hey there, princess." Palace guards plead desperately, "Please, your majesty! Please return to the palace! This is no place for a king!" as a shocked voice cries "WHAT!" A young boy with a spotted shirt spots the commotion and shouts, "Leader! Guys! What's going onI" The gang reacts in surprise: "WHAT!I I THOUGHT WE KNOCKED THESE KIDS OUT ALREADY!" They charge forward yelling "ATTACK, SAND-SAND GANG!" with loud SFX "わあっ!!" and "がしっ!!" In a dramatic close-up, a wide-eyed man in a hat warns urgently, "THESE GUYS ARE TRYING TO TAKE YOU AWAY! VIVI, RUN FOR IT!"
