The battlefield erupts after Little Oars Jr. is brought down. Ace screams, "Oars!!!" while remembering Oars saying of Ace's hat, "This hat... I really like it...!!" The pirates cry, "Captain Oars!!" and curse, "Damn it all!! Those damned Shichibukai...!!!" Oars groans, "Ace..." as he collapses with a massive crash and SFX like "BAGRRGG-BAA." Doflamingo laughs, "Fuffuffuffu...!! Oh, this is great, fuffuffu!!!" and, when someone asks what is so funny, he keeps laughing. Moria says, "Kishishishi!!! Observe carefully! That's how you kill him properly!!!" Hancock watches and says, "There certainly are large men in this wide ocean."

A Marine sees Oars fall and murmurs, "Oars..." but another officer seizes the opening against Whitebeard, shouting, "You're wide open there, Whitebeard...!! You don't have time to grieve for him!!!" Whitebeard answers with a crushing blow, smashing through Vice Admiral Lonz as the page explodes with impact SFX. Marines shout, "Vice Admiral Lonz!!!" and "He took out the giant like it was nothing!!" Elsewhere a massive slash is stopped with a heavy "BUVUN!!" and the fighting continues around Luffy and the pirates. Whitebeard shows that even while the enemy expects him to mourn, he remains terrifyingly alert.
With Oars down, Whitebeard orders the pirates, "Charge in over Oars's body!!!" The crews roar "Haaa-ahhhhh!!!" and surge forward across the route Oars created. The animal-themed allied captains and their crews rush with cries like "Wan wan!! Wan!!" "Hihihin!" "Kokekko!!" and "Fugo fugo," while one man calls, "Hey... Hey, wait up, you guys!!" An older observer remarks, "There sure are a lot of earthquakes today..." as Whitebeard's quake power and the advancing pirates shake Marineford. Oars's fallen body becomes a bridge for the next wave of the rescue effort.
Doflamingo reveals that he is controlling the Thirteenth Division captain Water-Buffalo Atmos. Laughing, he says, "Fuffuffuffu!! What's so funny, you ask!? Why, this feeling of standing right at the turning point of an age!! Fuffuffu!!" and someone identifies the victim: "Right now, this place is truly neutral, Thirteenth Division Captain Water-Buffalo Atmos!!" Atmos realizes something is wrong and says, "Oh, no...!!" while his body attacks his own allies. He yells, "Get away from me, you guys!!!" and "Stop this, Doflamingo!!!" as his blades cut through comrades and they scream.
Away from the main charge, Coby is overwhelmed by the bloodshed and cries, "No!! No, no, no!! This is too terrifying... I can't do a thing!! All these outrageously strong people are collapsing all around me in pools of blood!! Wait for me, Coby-!" A Marine officer shouts, "Return to the battlefield!!" but Coby pleads, "P... please, don't stop me...!! I'm too scared of dying! When I think of my family... my legs just won't move properly...!!! Please...!" Admiral Akainu appears and another Marine gasps, "A... Admiral Akainu!? What is he doing here...!?" Akainu answers coldly, "If whom you fear for is truly your family... then do not disgrace them...!!"

Coby and Helmeppo panic at Akainu's presence, crying out, while Akainu, addressed as "Admiral Sakazuki!!" states, "The necessary preparations have been made." Back on the field, Atmos continues being forced to swing at his own side. His men shout, "Captain Atmos!?" as he screams, "Get away from me!! All of you!!" Doflamingo stands over the chaos and declares, "Pirates are evil!? The Marines are justice!? These labels have been passed around heaven knows how many times...!!" His speech turns the battle into a contest over who gets to define morality.
Doflamingo continues his speech over a wide view of Marineford. He says, "Kids who have never known peace... and kids who have never known war... their values are too different!!! Right now, we stand in neutral territory!!! Whoever stands at the top can define right and wrong as they see fit!!!" The battlefield roars with the huge central words, "Whoever prevails is justice!!!" Doflamingo finishes, "Justice will prevail!? Well, sure it will!" His laughter and philosophy match the chapter title, recasting the war as a stage where victory itself decides justice.
The pirates exploit Oars's opening. Orders ring out: "Don't let them cut off the route Oars opened!!! Forge into the bay!!!" A ship smashes through the ice and Marines shout, "An ice-breaker!!!" Another recognizes it: "It's the Ice Witch, Whitey Bay!!!" Whitey Bay says, "This ice is nothing to me!" as the bay is penetrated in two separate spots. Marines warn Fleet Admiral Sengoku that they are being pushed back hard, but Sengoku replies, "No matter." He tells Tsuru, "Excellent timing. Tsuru-san, it is time to begin the operation... Notify all ships and all men!" Whitebeard senses the trap and laughs, "Gurarara... You've got something up your sleeves, eh...!?" calling him "Great General... Sengoku the Buddha...!!!"
Garp walks onto the execution platform beside Ace. Ace murmurs, "Gramps..." Sengoku asks, "What are you doing here, Garp? You have a complaint about my strategy?" Garp answers, "No... Those are pirates we're up against... I have no pity for them..." Luffy's face flashes in his mind as someone says, "Don't you dare hit Luffy, old geezer!!" and Garp adds, "I have no pity for these knaves..." Sengoku allows it with, "Well, then..." and Garp sits beside Ace, admitting, "Oh, be quiet! I can at least... stay here, can't I? But I can't say the same for family...!!! What do you expect me to do...!?"

Garp breaks down over Ace, shouting, "Damn you, Ace...!!! Why did you not live as I wanted you to!!?" He remembers telling the young Ace and Luffy, "Listen up, the two of you are going to be fine Marine soldiers!!!" Ace says, "Gramps...!!!" Sengoku warns, "If you try anything at this point, I will show no mercy, even for you, Garp." Garp replies, "Hmph. If I meant to try anything, I would have done it long ago!!" On the battlefield, Marines whisper, "D... did you hear that!? Helemppo-san, that strategy...!!" and Coby realizes, "Executing Ace without regard for the scheduled time...!! If they do a thing like that...!!!" As people look upward, someone says, "Something's falling... up there..." and another answers, "I know, but... him?"

Luffy, Crocodile, Ivankov and the escapees from Impel Down plummet from the sky over Marineford. Someone yells, "I told you we were going over the top!!" and another says, "It's this idiot's wink that did it!" Crocodile snaps, "What!? You mean to blame this on me, Croco!?" while another voice screams, "Who cares whose fault it was!? We're dead meat!! It's all solid ice down there!!!" People on the ground shout, "What in the world is that...? Something's falling from the sky!!" Luffy screams, "Aaaaaghhhhh-hhhhhh... Oh! I'm rubber, so I'll be fine!!!" His companions answer, "That's nice for you, but what about the rest of us!? Do something, quickly!!!" Ivankov cries, "I do not wish to die this way!!! Somebody stop uuuus!!!!" and Crocodile curses that he should never have listened to a plan Straw Hat came up with. Ace looks up and says, "Eh...?" as Luffy arrives at the war.
