THE MONSTER FROM GRAND LINE

At Arlong Park’s main entrance, a large sea creature labeled Momoo thrashes in the water while being restrained by ropes tied to posts. A small fishman clings to one rope nearby. In the next panel an octopus fishman with striped limbs grips a long trumpet-like instrument and shouts “LOOKS LIKE IT'S ABOUT TIME!” while playing “DOO DOO DAH DOOS”. He then raises the trumpet high and yells “MOMOO! TIME FOR YOUR MEAL!” as large Japanese sound effects “ブッパッパ ブッパッパ ブッパッパー” burst from the horn.

Momoo surfaces with a loud “BUPAPAPA!” and “ズオオオオオオ” roar, water splashing around its striped body and horns. Close-ups show its massive jaws and fins creating “ゴォゴォゴォ” impact effects while it sniffs with “ゴォ… SNIFF SNIFF”. Inside a building, Sanji lounges on a lounge chair with legs crossed and arms behind his head. He reacts to the distant noise by saying “HUHI WHAT'S THAT TRUMPET NOISE I HEARD JUST NOW…I” while two unconscious fishmen lie on the floor nearby.

Outside, the octopus fishman continues preparing the meal, saying “ROASTED PIG SHOULD BE HIS FAVOURITE! MAYBE HE ALREADY HAD HIS MEAL…I” while holding a large roasted item. He reacts with surprise “WHAT'S WITH HIM!I THAT'S STRAAAANGE…”. Hatchan appears on the steps, striking a pose and declaring “W-WHO ARE YOU!I WHO, MEI I'M HATCHAN! YOU CAN CALL ME HACHI!” with a big “NYU!” sound. Sanji, facing him, replies “YEAH… I'M PROBABLY MORE OF A GUEST. I FEEL LIKE I'VE SEEN YOU BEFORE…!” Hatchan answers “YUP, YUP! I'M A CHARMING OCTOPUS FISHMAN! SO YOU'RE A FISHMAN TOOI ARE YOU WITH THE MARINESI OR ARE YOU A GUESTI”

Arlong's fishman subordinates discuss their situation on the roof of a building. One reports, "WE ALREADY HAVE ONE OF HIS COMPANIONS TIED UP HERE," while another adds, "IT SEEMS THAT THIS LONG NOSED INTRUDER GOT AWAY FROM US." A third notes Arlong's absence: "BUT ARLONG WENT TO COCO YASHI VILLAGE TO GO CATCH THE OTHER HUMAN!" Nearby fishmen scan the area, asking "WHERE'D HE GOI" and replying "YEAH, HE'S NOT. BUT YOU KNOW, ARLONG'S NOT HERE RIGHT NOW." Sanji stands on the ground below, thinking to himself with a question mark, "GET ON! YOU'RE A GUEST, AREN'T YOUI I'LL GIVE YOU A LIFT!" He then considers, "HOW CAN I GET TO THAT VILLAGEI MUST BE USOPP... WELL, I GUESS I'LL GO SAVE HIM IN THE MEANWHILE..." At a table laden with food, Luffy and Sanji react in shock as a massive presence approaches. Luffy exclaims "IT'S HUGE...." while Sanji asks "WHAT'S THATI" Loud sound effects "AGHHH!" and repeated "あぁぁ" echo across the scene.

A gigantic sea creature emerges from the water beside the Going Merry. The massive black-and-white sea cow with horns and a nose ring sniffs loudly with "SNIFF SNIFF..." effects. The creature towers over the ship, its scaly body and dripping form dominating the panel. A large caption declares "IT'S A SEA MONS-TERRRRR!!!" Small figures of the crew are visible on the deck of the striped ship as the monster looms. Sanji remarks, "ISN'T THAT RIGHT...I I'M SURE IT'S INJURED SOMEWHERE SO IT CAN'T FIND FOOD ON ITS OWN." while others mutter about caring for the creature.

The octopus fishman waves and shouts, "BYE THEN!" while a voice from the ship calls back, "DON'T MENTION IT! TAKE CARE! AND COME VISIT AGAIN!" Later, the swordsman walks alone down a quiet village path lined with houses and palm trees, thinking, "WELL, WHATEVER... I'LL LOOK FOR OUR LONG-NOSE FIRST." He adds, "SO THAT SAW-NOSE IS IN THIS TOWN TOO, HUH..."

A massive building labeled "ARLONG PARK" looms with dramatic speed lines and impact effects. Someone shouts, "WHAT'S THE MEANING OF THIS!I" A close-up reveals furious eyes as the same voice demands, "HAPPENED HERE!I" and "JUST WHAT ON EARTH..." Nearby voices react in shock: "THAT PIRATE HUNTER!I" and "RORONOA ZORO!I" A close-up shows wide, sweating eyes as someone exclaims, "WHAT!I" Other fishmen realize, "THAT GUY WITH THE HARMAKI WE CAUGHT EARLIER... WAS ZORO...!" and "THAT GUY... WAS ZORO...!" In another area, a striped fishman grabs a small octopus-like creature by the head, making "CHU!" and "GACK!" sounds while saying, "BUT I THOUGHT YOU'D FEEL A LOT BETTER IF YOU KILLED HIM YOURSELF." The creature responds, "I FINALLY CAUGHT HIM! I COULD'VE KILLED HIM," as additional "CHU!" sounds echo and background figures watch.

Arlong looms with a furious glare, sweat dripping as he growls that the earlier pipsqueak attack wasn't nearly enough to satisfy his rage. Below, Usopp cowers in panic, hands raised, desperately explaining that his earlier greeting was just his hometown's way of saying hello and begging to be let go. Nami stands with her back turned, arms crossed, asking what happened. Nearby, Genzo and others question how Zoro could have escaped, wondering if Arlong considered that possibility. Arlong ponders aloud that Nami has been acting pretty funny today. Usopp blurts out that maybe Nami purposely brought Zoro here so she could take his head. The group discusses her strange dive into the water to save him earlier.

Nami whirls around in fury, shouting "JUST WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO SAY!I" and "DON'T JUST MAKE CONCLUSIONS FROM FALSE PREMISES!" Arlong crosses his arms and retorts that betraying people is her specialty after all. Nami continues, explaining it won't be long before the promised amount is paid, so why risk everything by pulling a stupid stunt like this. She reveals the tattoo on her arm, swearing eight years ago that it would mark her as a member of the Arlong Pirates. Usopp stares in shock, exclaiming "NAMI! SO YOU'RE REALLY..." Arlong apologizes for doubting her, noting she has been a loyal crewmember for eight years and is more than justified to get angry. Nami looks on with a tense expression as the crew discusses Zoro causing unnecessary trouble.

Usopp panics, yelling "W-WAIT! HELP!" as Arlong grabs him by the collar and declares that Roronoa Zoro and his companion are the ones they need to get rid of right now. In the village, a man tells Sanji that he just saw Usopp being taken to Arlong Park. Sanji reacts with shock, shouting "SON OF A! I JUST MISSED HIM!" The scene shifts to Momoo the sea cow charging at full speed through the water toward Arlong Park, with Sanji and Yosaku aboard. Sanji urges "FULL SPEED AHEAD TO ARLONG PARK!" while Yosaku cheers "YAHOO!" as the creature speeds forward with dramatic motion lines and splashes.
