An Unthinkable Incident

Narration states: "Roger's son, Ace, a member of the Whitebeard Pirates, was not saved, and the captain, Whitebeard, died." The news spread around the world in an instant. Crowds react in shock across towns and islands. "But the people witnessing it..." Reactions show stunned faces. "This historic incident would be passed on for generations." A close-up shows an older man with glasses and a scar smiling while holding a Den Den Mushi, saying "SO YOU'RE GONE, WHITEBEARD." A cloaked figure sits silently before screens, with speech bubbles reading "watch in silence." and "could only" and a quiet "...".

Narration continues: "The captain of the Whitebeard Pirates, the great pirate, Edward Newgate, AKA Whitebeard. He was a man who sailed the seas with the Pirate King, age 72 years at the time of his death!!" A wide view shows the devastated battlefield at Marineford. "The Whitebeard Pirates and the combined forces of Marine HQ and the Shichibukai fought a great battle. In the bay of Marineford." Whitebeard stands bloodied and massive, gripping his naginata, with close-ups of his determined face and another figure's reaction. "...and there he lost his life."

Close-ups show intense expressions from Jimbei, Ace, Luffy, and others amid the ruins. Voices shout: "RIGHT!!", "JIMBEI!! GET ACE'S BROTHER!!", "DID YOU FORGET THE CAPTAIN'S LAST ORDER!!I", "DON'T STAND THERE!! GET ON THE SHIP!!!" The battlefield is in chaos with smoke, debris, and damaged ships. Blackbeard appears in a large panel, laughing "HAA... HAA... HEHEHE!!" and declaring "NOW, LET'S GET STARTED!!" as a small figure reacts with "!!I".

Pirates react in shock as a massive black cloth erupts in the center of the battlefield. "HE'S DOING SOMETHING TO OUR DEAD BOSS!!!" one yells. "THAT BASTARD TEACH!!!" another shouts. "THEY'RE STILL PLANNING SOMETHING!!" Voices overlap in panic. "WHAT'S THAT BLACK CLOTHI" "BLACKBEARD AND WHITE-BEARD ARE INSIDE!!" Blackbeard stands inside the swirling darkness, laughing "ZEHAHA-HAHA..." and declares, "NOW I'LL GIVE YOU THE ULTIMATE SHOW." Below, a Marine officer with a scar and sunglasses asks, "IF IT FAILS, ARE WE SPLITTING UPI" A woman with dark hair and a pearl necklace replies, "I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS!!" An unseen speaker adds, "NOW NOW... NOBODY CAN ENTER FOR THE TIME BEING." A cloaked figure laughs "HOHOHO." Explosions and smoke fill the chaotic scene as figures scramble around the black mass.

Buggy flees in terror, cloak billowing, yelling "WE'RE GETTIN' OUTTA HERE, YOU IDIOTS!!! WE CAN'T TAKE WHITEBEARD'S HEAD ANYMORE!!!" His crew panics behind him. Someone shouts "CAPTAIN BUGGY!! WHERE ARE YOU...!II" In smaller panels, pirates discuss: "YOU KNOW WHAT THEY SAY: 'YESTERDAY'S ENEMY IS TODAY'S FRIEND.'" "CAPTAIN BUGGY... IS CRYING..." "I WAS SO SCARED!!! WHITEBEARD IS SCARY!!!! THE SUMMIT IS SCARY!!!!" Buggy screams "I COULDN'T DO IT!!!! I WAS SO SCARED... I COULDN'T EVEN GET CLOSE!!!" A massive explosion rocks the area as a voice cries "HURRY, TO THE SEA!!" Buggy's crew begs, "CAPTAIN BUGGY!!! WAIT!!! TAKE US TOO!!!"

A masked fighter with a spiked helmet gasps, "ACE IS GONE, BUT YOU MUST LIVE... DAY AFTER DAY!!" while panting "HAA..." Another figure shouts "HANG IN THERE!!! YOU HAVE TO LIVE!!!" and "HAA... LUFFY!!!" In the center, a cloaked warrior with a massive weapon swings amid smoke and debris, yelling "AND SURVIVE!!!" and "YOU HAVE TO... HANG IN THERE..." A voice cries "FIRE!!!" Below, a large-jawed man thinks, "YOU SHOULDN'T THINK TOO HIGHLY OF ME... I'M NOT THAT GOOD OF A PERSON. I ONLY LEND MY HELP AND PROTECTION TO MEN THAT I RESPECT. AND EVEN IF IT'S YOUR BROTHER... HE LIVES IN THE PIRATE WORLD." A chained figure in a cell says, "IF I DIE LIKE THIS... JIMBEI... COULD YOU... LOOK AFTER MY LITTLE BROTHER FOR MEI" Jimbei pants heavily on the right.

Jimbei reacts with "HMM!I" as a massive impact shakes the area. A voice yells "JIMBEI, GET ON HERE!!!" and "RIGHT!" A huge ship crashes violently into the frozen sea with a massive "ドゴォン!!!" sound. Someone shouts "DAMN!! HE FROZE THE SEA!!!" In the lower panels, a bandaged man with a net-like head covering glares forward and commands, "PUSH AOKIJI BACK!!!" A distant voice calls "WE CAN'T DEPART!!" while another urges "HURRY, DO SOMETHING!!!" The sea remains frozen solid around the ships as chaos erupts.

A massive explosion erupts across the battlefield as debris and smoke fill the air. Someone shouts in shock, "EHI" The ground cracks violently with the sound effect "ドドドドドド!!" From the crater, Akainu rises, his body emerging from the molten rock. Whitebeard pirates react in alarm. "AKAINU!!! YOU WEREN'T DOWN!!I" one yells. Another cries, "HE MELTED THROUGH THE GROUND AND CAME AROUND US!!!" Akainu glares coldly and retorts, "WON'T YOU IDIOTS JUST GIVE UP ALREADYI I ALREADY SAID I WOULDN'T LET HIM ESCAPE." He begins pummeling a pirate with heavy blows, the onomatopoeia "BOKO BOKO!" marking each strike as the surrounding fighters brace for the renewed assault.

Jimbei stands firm before the cloaked figure as smoke and flames swirl around them. The cloaked man demands, "GIVE ME DRAGON'S SON!!" Jimbei refuses flatly, "I CAN'T DO THAT." The cloaked figure presses forward with menace. "WELL THEN... I WON'T ASK AGAIN!!!" Jimbei's expression hardens with resolve. "I'VE DECIDED," he declares. "I'LL PROTECT THIS MAN, EVEN IF IT COSTS ME MY LIFE." The surrounding pirates watch tensely as the confrontation escalates, the air thick with tension and rising heat from the battlefield below.

Allied pirates surge forward in a unified roar. "ACE'S FAMILY IS OUR FAMILY TOO!!! PROTECT ACE'S BROTHER!!!" they shout. Akainu unleashes a devastating magma attack labeled "HELL," his face twisted in fury as he yells, "MOVE IT, JIMBEI!!! YOU WON'T TAKE THE STRAWHAT BOY!!!" Jimbei holds his ground, shielding Luffy. The clash produces a massive shockwave marked "WINK!!!" as ships in the bay rock violently from the impact. Smoke and debris explode outward while the Straw Hat allies refuse to yield.

Blackbeard activates his power with a roar, "THIS IS THE POWER OF MY YAMI YAMI FRUIT!!!" A swirling void labeled "BLACK HOLE"!!! forms, sucking in everything as fighters are hurled about. "UWA-AAH!!" and "WHAT!!I" echo amid the chaos. Onlookers realize, "BLACKBEARD'S COME OUT!!" and note, "AND BLACKBEARD DOESN'T LOOK ANY DIFFERENT... WHITE-BEARD LOOKS THE SAME!! WHAT DID HE DO!I" Blackbeard laughs, "ZEHAHA... LET ME SHOW YOU MY POWER, NOW THAT IT'S CLEAR WE'LL BE ENEMIES AGAIN... MARINES..." The battlefield fractures further as his darkness spreads and Whitebeard's allies brace for the new threat.

Massive destruction erupts across Marineford as the ground splits and buildings collapse under violent tremors. Blackbeard stands triumphant amid the chaos, laughing wildly. "I'VE GOT IT ALL! NOBODY CAN STAND AGAINST ME ANYMORE!!!" he roars. "I AM THE STRONGEST MAN IN THE WORLD!!!" A massive onomatopoeia "ギュドォン" shakes the panel as the quake intensifies. Nearby pirates scream "UWAAA-AAAHH!!" while others react in horror. "ZEHAHAHA!!! THE POWER TO RETURN EVERYTHING TO NOTHING, THE GRAVITY OF DARKNESS! AND THE POWER TO DESTROY EVERYTHING, THE POWER OF EARTH-QUAKES!!!" Blackbeard declares. Shocked voices cry out: "WHAT'S GOING ON!I THAT TEACH BASTARD!!!", "THE BOSS'S EARTH-QUAKE POWER!!I", "H-HE TOOK WHITEBEARD'S POWER!! HOW CAN HE USE IT!I", and "THIS IS THE POWER OF MY GURA GURA FRUIT!!" One figure shouts "UWAAH!!" as debris flies everywhere.

Blackbeard looms in a massive close-up, eyes bulging and mouth wide open as he bellows "MY AGE!!! THIS IS". Surrounding pirates react with disbelief. "Then... we're not done with... the Gura Gura fruit's terror!!!", "HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE!I", "I DON'T KNOW HOW HE DID IT... BUT HE STOLE WHITEBEARD'S ABILITY!!!" Voices question how a normal human could wield two Devil Fruits. Blackbeard continues addressing the world: "TO THE MARINES!!! TO THE BORING, PEACE-LOVING CITIZENS!!! TO ALL THE PIRATES OUT THERE!!! THIS WORLD'S FUTURE HAS BEEN DECIDED!!!" He laughs "ZEHAHAHAHA...!!! YES... FROM NOW ON..." as the battlefield shakes. Marco and others stare in stunned silence with expressions of shock and dread. "IS THIS A BAD DREAM...!I" someone mutters.
