The Great Pirate Edward Newgate

A massive seaquake shakes Marineford as enormous creatures emerge from the ocean. "ZEHAHAHAHAHA-HA-HA!!!" A giant creature's head rises with the cry, "THAT GIANT CREATURE IS..." Marines on the fortress walls react in panic: "WHY ARE THEY HERE!I" and "THERE'S NO MISTAKE! THOSE ARE THE DEATH ROW INMATES FROM IMPEL DOWN'S LEVEL SIX!!!" One Marine recognizes the threat: "IT'S THE GIANT BATTLESHIP, SANJUAN WOLF!!!" Another warns, "THEIR VERY EXISTENCES HAVE BEEN ERASED. THEY'RE THE WORLD'S WORST CRIMINALS!!!" and "WE CAN'T LET EVEN A SINGLE ONE OF THEM ESCAPE!!" A Marine officer stares in shock, "AH... THEY SAW AND RECOGNIZED ME!!"

Close-up portraits introduce the escaped criminals. "THE CRESCENT MOON HUNTER, CATARINA DEVON!!!" she declares with a wide grin. "THE EVIL KING, AVALO PIZARRO!!!" he growls fiercely. "THE DRINKER, VASCO SHOT!!!" appears with a lazy expression. Catarina asks playfully, "CAN I KILL THESE GUYSI" while murmuring "MURUN FUFUFU, I LIKE YOU GUYS." Vasco Shot adds, "IT'S BEEN A WHILE SINCE I'VE BEEN OUT..." Below, Shiryu of the Rain appears with a cigar, asking "WHAT'S GOING ON HERE!I" as the narration states, "AND SHIRYU OF THE RAIN, THE HEAD GUARD FROM IMPEL DOWN!!!"

Shiryu speaks to the group: "YOU CAN GO FIGURE IT OUT LATER... ANYWAY, I'M STICKING WITH THESE GUYS." and "PLEASED TO BE HERE." In the background, chaos erupts at the Marineford gates as someone shouts, "HOW DID YOU ALL GET HERE!I" and "WHAT HAPPENED TO MAGELLAN!I WHAT HAPPENED AT IMPEL DOWN!I" Sengoku demands, "SHIRYU, YOU...!!!" A Marine questions, "WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS!I THERE SHOULD ONLY BE MARINES IN THE CONTROL ROOM..." Doflamingo appears with a grin, explaining, "FLEET ADMIRAL SENGOKU!! I DIDN'T HAVE A CHANCE TO TELL YOU, BUT A SHORT TIME AGO, THE GATES OF JUSTICE OPENED AGAIN, AND AN UNIDENTIFIED BATTLESHIP PASSED THROUGH." He continues, "HOHOHO!! MY APOLOGIES, IT'S A SIMPLE STORY!! BEFORE WE DEPARTED, I HYPNOTIZED THE CONTROL ROOM MARINES. THEY WERE INSTRUCTED TO LET ALL BATTLESHIPS THROUGH THE GATES."

Whitebeard roars with fury, "THE ONLY REASON I SOUGHT THE SHICHIBUKAI TITLE WAS FOR THIS!! I DON'T NEED IT ANY MORE!!!" Blackbeard laughs triumphantly as the scene shifts to the ruins of Marineford. "ZEHAHAHAHA! YES, EVERYTHING WAS ABOUT THIS FROM THE START!! NOW YOU UNDERSTAND! IF THE GOVERNMENT SAW ME AS AN ENEMY WHILE I WAS A PIRATE, I WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN ABLE TO OPEN THE GATES AND INFILTRATE IMPEL DOWN. YOU WERE PLANNING ON FREEING THEM ALL ALONG!!" A crewmate shouts, "CAPTAIN, LOOK OUT!!" as Blackbeard unleashes his power. "TEACH!!!" Whitebeard glares in shock.

Blackbeard activates his Devil Fruit. "BLACK HOLE"!!! The ground collapses violently. "SACCHI IS DEAD... AND SO IS ACE, OLD MAN!!" Whitebeard counters, "EVEN THOUGH I LET HIM LIVE AT BANARO ISLAND!!!" Blackbeard mocks him, "SO OLD THAT YOU COULDN'T SAVE ONE OF YOUR MEN!!! BUT YOU GREW OLD!! I TRULY RESPECTED YOU... ADMIRED YOU!!" Marco intervenes, "DON'T INTERFERE, MARCO!!!" Blackbeard declares, "BY KILLING THIS IDIOT, FOURTH SQUAD COMMANDER SACCHI CAN REST IN PEACE!!!" He continues, "I WON'T CALL YOU MY SON ANYMORE, TEACH!!" and "YOU KILLED ONE OF YOUR COMRADES... BREAKING THE ONLY IRONCLAD RULE ON MY SHIP! YOU'RE NOT HOLDING BACK!! I GUESS NOT!!" Whitebeard struggles as powers fail around him. "OHOHO, THERE'S NO USE!! ALL POWERS ARE USELESS AGAINST ME!!!"

Blackbeard taunts, "ZEHAHAHA, HOW'S THAT!I YOU CAN'T MAKE ANY MORE EARTHQUAKES..." Whitebeard unleashes a counterattack. "BLACK WHIRLPOOL"!!! The sea swirls violently. "GY-WAAAAH!!!" Blackbeard screams as he is struck. "GO-WAAAAH!!!" Whitebeard presses the assault. "HEY, STOP!" Blackbeard retorts, "YOUR WEAKNESS... IS THAT YOU OVERESTIMATE YOURSELF AND GET CARELESS... DAMN IT... THAT HURTS!!!" Whitebeard grits through the pain, "HAA-AAAA!!!"

Blackbeard pleads desperately, "STOP!!! OLD MAN!!! I'M YOUR SON, YOU CAN'T KILL..." as Whitebeard drives his naginata through him. "GY-AAAAH!!!" The massive impact sends shockwaves across the battlefield. "GET HIM!!!" nearby pirates shout. Blackbeard gasps, "YOU'RE HALFWAY DEAD ALREADY!!! JUST SHUT UP AND DIE! YOU... YOU'RE A MONSTER!!!" Whitebeard stands firm amid the rubble as the final blow lands.

A massive chaotic assault erupts around Whitebeard. His massive cloak bearing the Whitebeard Pirates' skull mark billows as he stands firm amid explosions and gunfire. Blackbeard Pirates swarm him from all sides. Shiryu appears in the upper right, sword drawn. A striped-shirt pirate lunges with a massive blade while others fire rifles and swing weapons. Whitebeard remains the unshaken center. Speech bubbles ring out: "BOSS!!" from one side, "ZEHAHA-HAHA!!" from Blackbeard himself, and a furious command "GET HIM!!! TURN HIM INTO SWISS CHEESE!!!" Large impact SFX shake the page: ビキン!!! レオン!!! ズゴォン!!! ドドドドン!!! Whitebeard's cloak flaps violently as bullets and blades strike, yet he shows no sign of falling.

A flashback unfolds on a windswept island. Young Gold Roger stands with his crew while a younger Whitebeard sits nearby. Roger asks, "YOU'RE GONNA DIEI" Whitebeard replies with calm defiance. Roger continues, "YOU KNOW WHAT THOSE GOVERNMENT BASTARDS HAVE BEEN CALLING ME LATELYI GOLD ROGER." Whitebeard retorts, "EVEN IF YOU TOLD ME, I WOULDN'T GO. I'M NOT INTERESTED IN THAT..." Roger presses, "WANNA KNOW HOW TO GET TO RAFTEL, WHITEBEARDI" Whitebeard answers, "YEAH, I DON'T HAVE LONG." Roger leans in with a grin: "OH, YOU WANNA KNOWI THEN I'LL TELL YOU... JUST WHAT DOES THE 'D' MEAN...I I'VE GOT ONE IN MY CREW, BY THE NAME OF TEACH. I RUN INTO GUYS WITH THE 'D' NAME NOW AND THEN..." Whitebeard suddenly shouts, "THAT'S WRONG!! MY NAME'S GOL D. ROGER!!!" Roger laughs heartily as the scene closes on their exchange.

The scene returns to the present battlefield. Whitebeard roars in shock, "... YOU'RE STILL ALIVE!I THE MAN ROGER IS WAITING FOR... IS DEFINITELY NOT YOU, TEACH..." Blackbeard answers from off-panel, "NAH, OUT OF AMMO..." and "IT'S A STORY FROM LONG AGO..." Whitebeard continues his speech: "AS LONG AS THAT 'BLOODLINE' SURVIVES, THEIR FLAMES WILL NEVER DIE... AND ONE DAY, SOMEONE WILL APPEAR WHO WILL INHERIT ROGER'S WILL..." Sengoku's voice cuts in, "THE WORLD YOUR WORLD GOVERNMENT IS AFRAID... AFRAID OF THE COMING WAR THAT WILL ENGULF THE WORLD!!!" Whitebeard declares, "I WASN'T INTERESTED... BUT WHEN SOMEONE FINDS THAT TREASURE... THE WORLD WILL BE SHAKEN TO ITS CORE!! SOMEBODY WILL FIND IT... THAT DAY WILL CERTAINLY COME..." A massive battlefield spread shows the war raging below as Whitebeard stands defiant.

Whitebeard speaks his final words. In a quiet flashback panel he tells his crew, "THERE'S SOMETHING I'VE EVER WANTED... EVER SINCE I WAS A KID." Crew members press him: "WHAT, EXACTLY, DO YOU WANTI" "HOW CAN A PIRATE NOT BE INTERESTED IN TREASUREI" "OOHH!! TELL US WHAT IT IS!" Whitebeard answers simply, "A FAMILY." Back in the present he stands tall and says, "YOU HAVE MY THANKS. FAREWELL, MY SONS...." His massive body begins to collapse. Crew members scream in horror: "BOSS...!!!" "Whitebeard has died!!!" "STANDING THERE!!" "... H-HE DIED" "AH...!!!" Blackbeard appears in the final panels, laughing "ZEHAHA!!" and declaring, "FORGIVE ME, MY SONS... I LEFT BEHIND THIS HUGE FOOL... THIS IS IT FOR ME." The last panel shows shocked faces and the giant words "IS REAL!!! ONE PIECE" looming over the battlefield.

Narration recounts Whitebeard's life: and indeed, in his life as a pirate, But on his proud back... Small panels show him standing tall with his naginata as enemies fall, PARR... and I-I-I... sounds echoing. The massive central image depicts Edward Newgate's towering silhouette after death, face half gone, body pierced by countless blades yet still upright and unyielding, radiating power. Narration continues: Even after he died, with his face half gone, his body would not yield. Cutting his enemies down, he was the very image of a monster. In this battle, he suffered two hundred sixty-seven sword wounds, as well as one hundred fifty-two bullet wounds and forty-six cannon wounds. A final box declares he did not suffer a single coward's injury!!!

Against a vast white background, only the lower right holds an image of Edward Newgate's upper body. His massive scarred chest, open coat, and proud stance are shown in stark detail, head tilted slightly with a faint smile visible beneath his mustache.
