Chapter 472 is titled "Down." The cover serial continues Enel's Great Space Mission, Vol. 36: "The City on the Moon Is Also Named 'Birka.' Lacking Natural Resources, They Flew to the Blue Planet." Enel stands before another ancient lunar wall painting with the automata gathered below him. The page is not part of the Thriller Bark fight, but it adds lore about the moon civilization, Birka, and the origin of people who left the moon for the blue planet.

The Straw Hats face Oars again in the ruined courtyard, now standing together before the giant body that still carries Luffy's shadow. Oars laughs down at them, "You're pretty strong, tiny pirates! Shishishi!!!" but the crew has begun thinking as a unit. Zoro says, "I've got an idea..." and proposes, "How about we send this guy flying?" Usopp, staring up at the massive zombie, panics, "Se... send him flying!? He's freaking gigantic!" Sanji sees the plan's appeal and says, "I see... That would be great." Oars crouches over them, huge enough to fill the battlefield, while the crew prepares to test whether combined strength can move a monster that no one can handle alone.

The crew studies Oars and weighs the problem. Zoro admits, "Seeing him move like Luffy with that huge body was a surprise." Robin adds, "But he's not really suited to be the Pirate King." Franky, already eager for tactics, says, "How to take him down... I've got tons of ideas...!!" Usopp confesses, "I'm super scared." Sanji thinks like a fisherman: "To catch a big fish, you usually would weaken it slowly." Brook decides, "He must have some weak point." Then Oars moves first, shouting, "I'll crush you!" and beginning another Luffy-like attack: "Gomu Gomu" as he launches his enormous body toward them. The plan has barely formed before the monster forces them to act.

Oars slams down with "Butt Stomp"!!! The attack crashes into the ground like a building falling, sending the Straw Hats scattering through smoke and rubble. Usopp screams, "What kind of attack is that!?" Franky yells, "Scatter!!!" and Chopper cries, "Uo!!!" as the impact bursts beneath them. Oars grins, enjoying the familiar body movements of Luffy's shadow, and one of the crew snarls, "Damn you, Strawhat...!! Have a taste of our combined strength!!!" Then Franky calls the next absurd formation: "You guys!! 'Tactics Fifteen'!!!" Someone immediately blurts, "Eh? That's what we're using that!?" The page turns from panic into teamwork, but the teamwork is pure Straw Hat chaos.

Franky's plan becomes a human-machine formation. He orders, "Zoro!! Swirly guy!! Standby!!" while another voice shouts, "Support my legs!!!" Zoro and Sanji blink, "Wha?" and "Hm?" as they are pulled into position. Franky announces, "Pirates Docking 6"!!! and then, with absolute confidence, "Giant Robot Warrior!!!" The formation stacks bodies into the ridiculous figure he calls "Big Emperor~~~~!!!" Chopper, horrified, notices the missing piece: "Wait a second, Franky!! The left arm isn't docked yet!!" Franky demands, "Hey!! Nico Robin, what are you doing!? Dock with the left arm!!" Chopper pleads, "Hurry!!" while Franky adds, "Come on, Robin!! Do it just like me!!"

Robin refuses to complete the giant robot. With perfect calm, she says, "As a person, I'm embarrassed." Usopp, Chopper, and Franky are shocked into screams, and even Oars stares in disbelief. Someone asks, "Why did you stop?" while another wonders, "Why is he shocked, too!?" The delay ruins the moment. Oars charges in roaring, and Franky yells, "Come on!!! Docking!!!" as the half-formed crew is smashed apart. Chopper and Usopp cry, "Gyaaaa," bodies tumbling through debris, while Oars complains, "I was getting all excited!!!" Robin's dignity saves her from the pose, but the abandoned docking plan sends the others crashing into the rubble.

The failed docking leaves the crew wounded and humiliated. Zoro, thrown aside with his swords, grumbles, "How dumb! Why did I let them do that?" and decides, "No... Let's just forget it..." Chopper mourns the lost dream: "If only you were there, Robin! We could've become the robot warrior, Big Emperor!!" Robin cuts the topic dead with a simple, "Please... Never mention 'docking' again." The joke ends as Sanji kicks the fight back into motion, striking Oars with a hard "Gonk." He snaps, "You bastard!! I have to finish this quickly and go save Nami again!!" The crew's comic failure gives way to a serious reminder: Nami is still in danger, and Sanji is fighting with that urgency in mind.

Sanji's kick lands against Oars and Franky cheers him on: "That's the way, you bastard!!!" Chopper shouts, "Uo!!!" as Oars reels and asks, "Was that you?" The crew uses the opening immediately. Zoro grabs Franky's weapon and calls, "Franky!! I'm borrowing this!!!" Franky cries, "Ah!! My heavy nunchaku!! Take it!!!" Zoro swings the massive improvised weapon into the fight, turning construction debris and Franky's equipment into a blade-user's tool. The page shows the Straw Hats adapting instead of relying on one spectacular formation: when the robot plan fails, they start chaining ordinary attacks, borrowed weapons, and quick calls from one crewmate to another.

Zoro takes Oars's left arm while coordinating with Robin. He says, "Robin! I'll get his left arm. You lock his joints!!" Robin answers, "Got it." Usopp fires into the giant's hand with "Take this! Hissatsu, 'Special Oil Star' Triple Shot!!!" The oil splashes over Oars's palm with "Splash," setting up the next part of the plan. Oars looks down, confused by the slick sensation, and mutters, "Hm?" As he reaches out, his hand slips with a loud "Slap," skidding uselessly against the ground. The attack does not hurt him directly, but it makes his huge body harder to control, proving that the crew is now targeting balance, joints, and footing rather than raw damage.

The next sequence fires in several directions at once. Sanji calls, "Hey, give me a boost!!!" while Franky, trapped in the spinning formation, yells, "You!! What are you doing with that thing...?" and "Don't bother if it's too much to ask." Sanji snaps back, "Why, you!! This is no problem!!" then launches himself with "Armee de L'Air" and "Power Shot"!!! Brook moves in with his sword, declaring "Dai"... and then striking with "Gekken"!!! Zoro's borrowed heavy weapon slams into Oars from another angle. Oars can only cry, "Wo!!!" as the crew's scattered attacks converge, turning his own size against him by forcing him to react to threats from every side.

Robin raises the final support for the maneuver. She calmly calls "Cien Fleur" and then "Big Tree," sprouting a massive structure of arms that erupts upward like a living trunk. Oars loses balance. The crew shouts, "Wah!! Look out!! He's falling!" and "He's falling!!" as the giant tips forward with a groan. Franky races beneath him on an improvised stairway, yelling, "Take a good look at my improvised midair stair building!!" and names it "Franky~ Sky Walk"!!! Chopper rides the unstable path while someone warns, "But this stairway won't be able to stand for too long!! Let's go, Chopper!!" Chopper answers, "Yeah!!" The crew has finally converted Oars's mass into momentum against him.

As Oars falls, Franky and Chopper strike together. Franky calls "Suuuuper-" and punches with "Frapper," while Chopper charges in and delivers "Gong"!!! directly into Oars's jaw. The impact snaps the giant's head hard enough for Chopper to explain the principle: "No matter how big you are, the human body's weak points don't change!! If your jaw gets hit, your brain also gets shaken around!!" Sanji finishes the thought from below: "He's only got one leg supporting him. You monster Luffy!!!" Oars's expression finally changes from rage to shock. The crew is not overpowering him as a giant; they are attacking the anatomy and balance that even a giant zombie still has.

Sanji follows through with the finishing pressure. He calls "Anti-Manner"!!! and then "Kick Course"!!! driving a brutal kick into Oars while the giant is already off balance. Oars's body crashes through the mansion structure with a huge roar, "Uoa Gaaa!!!" and the building buckles beneath him. The crew watches the result closely. Brook urges, "Get down, you monster!!" Franky shouts, "All right! Go!!" and Sanji marks the result with cold satisfaction: "One down." The attack sequence finally works because the crew never tried to beat Oars at his own scale. They made him slip, shook his jaw, removed his balance, and forced the enormous body to fall.

The crash shakes the mansion. Zombies watching from above cry, "Uoo!! The mansion's getting totally destroyed!!" and another asks, "What's he doing!! Acrobatics!?" A soldier protests, "It... it couldn't be someone knocking him down... Come on, use your head!! Even a thousand soldiers wouldn't be able to do that!!!" Yet Oars lies in the rubble below, groaning, "Ow, ow, ow...!!!" The crew stands around him as he realizes what happened. His face hardens with humiliation and rage: "You bastards!!! Now you've got me mad! I'll send you flying!!!" The victory is temporary, not final. They have knocked the monster down, but now he understands they can hurt and embarrass him.

Back in the broken ceremonial hall, Lola tells Nami, "I'll be fine, Namizou. You go on ahead." Nami says, "Lola," but Lola insists, "Let me tell you what's going on around the island." She reveals the truth behind the giant outside: "Your friend, Strawhat Luffy, his shadow was implanted in a special zombie that's rampaging around the island right now..." Nami understands the crisis at once: "It must be that giant zombie we saw in the freezer room. That's bad... Can we get Luffy's shadow back from that thing...!?" But before chasing the battle, she chooses one more practical stop. She says, "But before that, treasure room!! I checked out the location before. I've been through so much that I can't just go back empty-handed." Then she reaches the door and brightens: "Here it is!! And it's unlocked!!"

Nami enters the treasure room and finds it strangely empty. She pauses with "..." and then blurts, "Eh!?" Outside, Perona's servants are already loading crates and treasure into a small ship. One calls, "Get that stuff loaded!! Hurry!!" Another says, "Lady Perona, the freezer is already full." A third asks, "There's a supply room, isn't there?" and someone orders, "Get the treasure loaded quickly, too!! Don't leave any behind!!" Perona watches the evacuation from above while the zombies laugh, "Heave ho. Heave ho." She admits, "I mean, I was only here with Moria for fun! I'm not staying if my life is really in danger." Her loyalty has reached its limit: survival and treasure come first.

Perona pushes the evacuation forward: "Quickly, you guys!! We're getting out of here without delay!!" The zombies answer, "Yes!!" But a dark figure appears and stops the movement. A servant asks, "What's that? You!! You're not a zombie?" The stranger replies only, "Ha?" Another zombie says, "What are you doing here," and then recognizes the shape with alarm: "You bear-looking bastard?" The figure answers bluntly, "A bear, huh... How blunt...!!" He steps into full view with a Bible in hand and the unmistakable cap and coat of Bartholomew Kuma. He states his purpose without drama: "I'm here to see Moria. Is he here?" The chapter shifts from Straw Hat tactics and Perona's escape to the arrival of another Shichibukai.

The SBS page includes several reader questions. One asks what Kalifa would have looked like if she had received the Ushi Ushi Fruit, Model: Giraffe at the Tower of Justice, and Oda sketches a giraffe-like Kalifa, saying, "Something like this -> I think it looks pretty good." Another asks whether the stuffed-animal Kumashi seen in Perona's flashback is the same one from chapter 468, and how it became so big. A related question asks whether Wapol's cover-story toy "Kabashinshi" connects to Perona's underling Gentleman Kaba. Oda answers the two together: Kumashi is a stuffed animal, not grown, and Hogback made zombies resembling Perona's favorite toys; it is also very possible that she got one of Wapol's Kabashinshi toys and had a zombie made from it.
