At sea in the New World, the Sunny heads toward Wano while the crew reads about the Reverie. Luffy, now introduced as captain of the Straw Hat Pirates with a bounty of 1.5 billion, eats happily as he learns that kings from around the world are gathered at Mary Geoise. The newspaper says Shirahoshi received a warm welcome at Red Port, that this is a big step forward for her people, and that both Neptune and his children are there because the Ryugu Kingdom is attending for the first time in two hundred years. Luffy is delighted that Shirahoshi finally came to the surface, and he guesses she must be strong now. Brook and Nami notice that Vivi is also attending because Dressrosa is there too, and Luffy lights up at the thought of all the princesses who know him being in one place.

The crew continues reacting to the article. They spot Viola, Wapol, Rebecca, and Sai, and realize that many people they know are attending the Reverie. Sanji becomes overwhelmed by the idea that all these princesses know Luffy and cries, "Are they obsessively talking about me?!" Chopper is more interested in Dr. Kureha, and when Nami shows him the paper, he screams, "Dwwdoctorine!!" Sanji tells him not to cut the newspaper, but Chopper is too emotional and tears into it anyway. He is shocked that Kureha is still alive, while Nami asks what is wrong with "Brooper." The scene turns the global political meeting into a personal reunion by newspaper, with each Straw Hat seeing old friends and old enemies in the report.

Chopper and Sanji keep fighting over the newspaper. Chopper laughs and blushes over Kureha, while Sanji complains that he has not read the other side yet and points out that now the page is full of holes. Luffy reads only what catches his attention and asks, "What did Big Mom... do? I can't read it!!" before being distracted again. Nami tells him that the other article is about Kaido, but Luffy is more interested in declaring that everyone is doing well and suggesting they visit them once they have sailed around the world. Brook asks whether Luffy has tried calling the others with the Transponder Snail again, but Luffy calls out, "Heeeeey!! This is Luffy!! Is anybody there?!" and receives only silence. They give up for now and keep going.

The mood changes as the Sunny approaches Wano's sea. Nami says they all want to keep going, but the water around them feels wrong: they are in a sea with waves that can only be described as Wano-esque, something she has never seen before. The wind strengthens, the waves grow, the clouds swirl strangely, and the clouds themselves do not look like normal wind conditions. Brook suggests avoiding the storm and waiting until it is over, but Luffy refuses, shouting that they should go to Wano already. Nami explains the truth that Kin'emon warned them about: the country is surrounded by terrible weather, the waves are rough, and the currents move very rapidly. Wano's natural border is already fighting them before they even land.

The Sunny is suddenly invaded by a strange octopus. It appears with kabuki-like sounds, "Pon" and "Booooh," startling everyone. Nami asks, "What is this thing?!" and Chopper realizes, "It's an octopus...!!" while Luffy wonders when it boarded the ship. The crew's fear turns into a second shock when a school of huge carp bursts from the sea around them. Sanji cries, "A school of fish?!" and Luffy shouts that there are fish everywhere. The absurdity does not slow the danger: the Sunny is tossed among rough waves, a kabuki octopus, and giant carp, making Wano's entrance feel like an impossible theatrical obstacle course rather than an ordinary coastline.

Sanji asks how the carp can be alive, and Luffy answers with the logic of food: if they soak them in water, cut them up, cook sashimi, and then cook them with miso, they can make braised carp stew. Nami yells, "Stop it, Luffy!!" but Luffy has already leapt onto one of the giant carp and declares that they will cook one of them for the reunion party with Zoro and the others. Sanji joins the idea, suggesting tempura or cooking it in sauce. The carp resists, and Luffy shouts, "Waaah!! Don't resist!!" while Nami screams that of course it is trying to resist. Her real concern is the ship: "Don't worry, Nami-san!! He'll be fine!!" is not enough, because they need to protect the Sunny.

The storm becomes even worse. Nami orders Carrot to furl the sails because the wind is too strong, and Carrot answers, "Okay!!" The Sunny is dragged through towering waves, surrounded by massive carp and the strange octopus. Brook asks what is up with the octopus, but there is no time to solve that mystery. The carp begin heading somewhere, and Nami realizes the ship cannot follow them much longer. The water clears strangely, and the crew sees that the carp are moving through what looks less like open sea and more like an enormous river flowing around a mountain. Brook, terrified of the huge fish beneath the surface, says he does not even want to look at them, while Nami tries to understand where the current is taking them.

Nami figures out the entrance to Wano: because the water is freshwater, there must be a huge water reservoir at the top of the waterfall. The carp are strong enough to climb it, and the Sunny is pulled along behind them. The crew looks up and sees the impossible sight of fish climbing a massive waterfall while the ship is dragged upward against a downward stream. Everyone screams, "They're climbing the waterfall!!!" and "Whyyyyy?!" Nami asks whether the Wano Country is up there, while Luffy sees the ship starting to sink and yells, "All right!! Leave it to me!!" He grabs the carp and says, "I'm trusting you, carp!!!" with no plan beyond force and instinct.

The waterfall climb ends in chaos. The Sunny clears the top, but a counter-current and whirlpool tear the ship away from control. The crew shouts that they are climbing the waterfall, then immediately realizes they are being dragged into new danger. Someone screams, "Oh no! There's a counter-current!!" and another cries, "It's a whirlpool!!!" The ship is hurled out into a quiet Wano shoreline, where the hull lies still among stylized trees and strange landforms. Luffy and the others have survived the impossible entrance, but the impact separates them and leaves the Sunny stranded in unfamiliar territory. The calm beach after the violence of the waterfall makes the silence feel more dangerous, not less.

Luffy wakes alone beside the Sunny and tries to orient himself. "Am I in... the Wano Country?" he asks, then wonders where everyone else went and what happened to them. Before he can gather himself, a commotion erupts nearby: a huge spotted creature is being chased, or attacked, and someone yells, "Hey, you!! Don't damage my ship!!" Luffy stares as the creature barrels across the beach, and he tries to identify it: "That's a huge dog...!! Are these animals fighting? Or is it a pig?" The page gives Wano's wilderness the same strange theatrical energy as its sea. Even after surviving the entrance, Luffy has landed in a place where animals, landscape, and danger all feel unfamiliar.

Another huge animal appears with the sound of snapping branches: a baboon, or "Baboon," carrying a sword. The enormous creature barks, "Woof!! Woof!!" while facing the beast that has already run past Luffy. Luffy freezes at the sight and notices the absurd detail immediately: "It's holding a sword!!" The chapter ends with him standing alone between giant Wano beasts, the Sunny behind him and the country ahead. Luffy concludes, "As I thought, this must be the Wano Country!!!" The arrival has not been ceremonial or planned; it has thrown him straight into a wild, armed, dangerous land where even animals seem to follow Wano's warrior logic.
