Foxy the Silver Fox

On a vast grassy plain with tall bamboo stalks and a distant domed building, Luffy stands with a surprised expression. A voice says, "...Hey, you. Say something." Another replies, "I told you, I split open a bamboo tree and he just appeared." A third wonders, "A spiritI" In the next panel Luffy sweats nervously with exclamation marks above his head while the group sits on a cloud-like surface; one figure emits "ムクッ…" and another shows "!". The scene cuts to a dramatic close-up of an elderly man with a thick beard and top hat shouting, "Have you all been wellI Yes, of course I remember. It's been a long time." Luffy reacts with shock: "!!" accompanied by large sound effects "どっ」 and "くっ!!".

The group reacts in confusion. Someone yells, "JUST WHO ARE YOU!I" while others exclaim, "Talk about changing your mind on a whim!", "Ahh, no wonder I thought your faces looked unrecognizable.", "Me neither.", "I don't know him.", and "HuhI Do you know himI". The bearded man in the top hat rubs his chin and declares, "You're the ones who brought me down from the stilts, rightI Let me say my thanks. My name's Tonjit." A sign appears labeling him "Nomad Tonjit". Luffy stares in surprise as someone shouts, "StiltsI" and another cries, "AHH! HE'S RIGHT!" with impact effects "どっ」 and "わっ!".

Luffy questions Tonjit: "But just an old man on bamboo stilts who fellI Oh, so you're not a fairy that appeared from inside the bamboo when I split it. So why were you walking on such high stiltsI" Tonjit explains from atop his stilts, "Yes, and I was standing right at the very top! But your stilts are so tall I couldn't even see the top!" The crew reacts with shock; Luffy yells, "Holy cow, you ARE retarded! For 10 years... What're you, stupidI" Tonjit continues, "Getting on them was the easy part... But it was so high up that I was afraid to get down! I wanted to try walking on the world's highest stilts! I've loved walking on stilts for a long time... So using the tall bamboos on this island, that's all you have to say after 10 years of being stuck up there!I Ahh... Such frightening times... Making it even scarier and scarier to try to get down! Luffy gestures toward the tall trees and animals while asking, "Both the trees and animals! Luffy and Chopper react with shock as a long-necked creature appears, prompting exclamations like "LEOPARD!I" and "And that's a plaaaaaatypus." Someone shouts, "ALL YOU DID WAS PRO-NOUNCE IT LONGER! Is a daaaaaachshund."

Outside a round building, Tonjit waves excitedly, "Come inside. I'll treat you to some food for saving me." Luffy stares in surprise at the long-horned creature, shouting, "WHY'S THAT THE ONLY ONE THAT'S LONG HORIZONTAL!I" while others react with "OHHH! WOO-HOO!" and "GRR..." Inside, Tonjit panics, "AGHHH! THE VILLAGE IS GONE! AND MY LIVESTOCK TOO!" Luffy asks, "You just noticedI How can a village just disappear in the span of 10 yearsI I don't see any livestockI VillageI WhereI" Tonjit explains, "The customary drink in our village is milk freshly squeezed from our animals." They sit at a table as Tonjit muses, "Uhh... MilkI That you've been storing for 10 years...I Hmm hm hmmm. More importantly, I still have to treat you to something. I should have some milk stored over here... Oh... Well, about that, I'll explain to you once we sit down and get comfortable."

Luffy agrees, "Alright, well take a seat anyways." Tonjit presents old cheese, saying, "This cheese is to your liking... I hope." The creature reacts in horror, "HEY! LOOK AT ME WHEN YOU TALK! THAT'S 10 YEAR-OLD MILK YOU'RE TRYING TO FEED ME, ISN'T IT!I" Tonjit insists, "Unlike you three, I've lived a long and hardy life on this island. So I've developed a strong stomach. You youngsters and your fragile constitution... Hmph, of course I can! It's only 10 year-old cheese. So you can eat this cheese, old manI DON'T EAT IT!" Luffy and the others react with disgust. The creature yells, "NO DUH! It's food poisoning. DOCTOORR! SEE, WHAT'D I SAY, YOU RETARD! CALL A DOCTOR... WAIT, THAT'S ME!"

Chopper asks, "Oh, so that's why your village is gone even though it's only been 10 years..." Tonjit replies, "Yes, my people are laid-back nomads who move our homes periodically. Whoaaa, you're so cool! NomadsI" A diagram shows the island's ring shape as Tonjit explains, "Normally, the high sea levels make it appear as 10 distinct islands. Although this island is essentially one connected ring. Welcome, travelers. This island is called 'Long Ring Long Land.'" Inside, he continues, "Ohhh... So you were left behind during the move. Accidentally left behind!I Haha, you're great! I love that slow-witted part of you! Using that special low tide, we move from one island to the next, once every 3 years. So for a few hours on that day, the 10 islands become connected as one. But once a year comes a very low tide."

Tonjit explains his plan while seated inside the building. "To catch up with the others within 5 years. I can then move every year to the next island....Yes, I suppose so. If I at least had a single hooorrrssseee." The man with the spotted hat replies, "So even if you did spend a decade on stilts, you still need to wait 20 years before you can reunite with your people. So if your people move once every 3 years, it'll take 30 years to complete a full lap." Tonjit continues, "With its strength, it can carry all our belongings during the move. Trying to cross the island by foot would be too slow. And you'd be drowned by the incoming tide. It's almost impossible to move from one island to the next without a hooorrrssseee. Yes, it's the most beautiful animal on this island. Its form as it gallops across the plains is indescribably graceful. HooorrrssseeeI" Luffy sits listening with a neutral expression. In the next panel Luffy's eyes widen in surprise. "Won't it be lonely...I" Tonjit smiles gently. "After all, the 10 islands here are technically one single island. It's fine, I'll just wait another 20 years here. Moreover, a log pose would only point at the next island. None of us have any sea navigational skills... Then how about travelling by boatI"

Luffy suddenly brightens. "Ah, you're right! If it's a horse we're talking about, then there's one outside!" Chopper asks, "HmI Could a hooorrrssseee be the same thing as a horseI" Outside, a tall white horse rears its head. "NEIGHH!" Tonjit stares in shock, tears forming. "WERE YOU... WAITING FOR ME HERE!I OHHH! SHERRY!" The reunion overflows with emotion as Sherry neighs. "NEEIIGHH!" Tonjit weeps openly. "I can't believe it... You must have been so lonely as you waited for me all these years! You've grown so much since I've been gone! How I've longed to see you! Sherry! You lovely little thing!" He hugs the horse's leg tightly. "Thank you! Thank you so much! I'll never leave you again!" Luffy, Chopper, and the others watch the heartfelt scene.

In the wide plains, distant figures watch the reunion. "What a nice horse. I'm sure she likes him very much. Ohh, so that horse was waiting for that old man all these years." Sherry gallops powerfully across the grass with Tonjit riding, the sound effects "ドドドッ" echoing. Luffy, Chopper, and the others react with excitement. "It really is graceful as it runs. WHOA! IT'S SO FAST! I WANT TO RIDE IT TOO!" Sherry lets out a joyful "NEIIGHH ♪" while Tonjit laughs heartily. "HAHAHA!"

Close-ups show Sherry and Tonjit sharing quiet words. "As well as snowy days. Thank you for waiting for me. I'm sure you've endured many rainy days alone. Sherry... Let's cross the islands on the next low tide day." The crew discusses the departure. "ARE YOU SUREI YOU'LL BE LEFT ALL ALONE. IT'LL BE ANOTHER 27 YEARS BEFORE WE RETURN HERE. ARE YOU REALLY GOING TO WAIT FOR TONJIT NO MATTER WHATI THE REST OF US WILL BE MOVING ON AHEAD. SHERRY..." Distant shots show the empty plains and giraffes as the group prepares to leave. Sherry neighs sadly. "NEIGHH..." Tonjit walks away with the others. "NONE OF US HAVE ANY IDEA WHERE TONJIT WENT. IT'S NO ONE'S FAULT, YOU SHOULD COME WITH US." Sherry stands alone, calling out, "SHERRY..."

A lone rider on horseback gallops across an open plain as the horse rears slightly. "YOU KNOW I'M NOT TOO GOOD WITH HEIGHTS!" the rider yells. "WHOA THERE, SHERRY!" someone calls out. In close-up, Sherry the horse reacts with wide eyes. Below, Luffy, Usopp, and Chopper watch the scene. Usopp laughs nervously, "Haha...", while Chopper sweats with a blank expression and Luffy grins, "AHAHA...". Suddenly a massive creature crashes down in the grass with a thunderous impact, sending the rider tumbling off as huge sound effects "ドドド!!" and impact lines fill the panel.

Close-ups show shocked faces: an old man yells "WHAT!I", a fish-man-like figure gapes "AHH-", and Luffy stares in wide-eyed alarm. The old man shouts "GRANDPA'S!" while reaching desperately. "THE HORSE!" he cries as he grabs at the fallen Sherry. "WHAT'S WRONG!I" he demands, sweat flying. "AH! SHERRY!" he calls again. In the next wide panel the group reacts in panic: "I HEARD A GUNSHOT!", "IS SHE ALRIGHT!I", and Chopper screams "WAS SHE SHOT!I" as they rush forward.

Sherry lies on the ground as the old man reaches for her, calling "Sherry!" while she neighs weakly. Luffy glares angrily with clenched teeth. From behind a fence Usopp and Chopper react with "FEH! FEH! FEH! FEH!" and "HM!I". Distant figures shout "HOY HOY HOY HOY!". A man in a striped beanie points and declares "THAT'S RIGHT! THAT HORSE BELONGS TO OUR BOSS!". Another figure yells "IT'S MY CATCH! DON'T YOU TOUCH IT!" and "I SHOT THAT HORSE!". Luffy charges forward shouting "DO YOU THINK YOU ARE!I" as the striped-beanie man demands "WHO THE HELL-".

The old man worries "But the bullet fortunately missed her bones." Usopp adds "Let's focus on treating Sherry first! Her leg's been shot." Luffy growls "DAMN IT, SO THEY'RE RESPONSIBLE!I". A massive figure looms and bellows "DON'T TELL ME YOU DON'T RECOGNIZE THIS FACE!" while a woman remarks "How rude of them!". Luffy snaps "I'M GONNA KICK YOUR ASS!" and demands "HOW THE HELL SHOULD I KNOW YOU!I". The giant man laughs and poses as labels appear: "Foxy Pirates Combatant Hamburg", "Foxy Pirates Combatant Porche", and "Foxy Pirates Captain Foxy the Silver Fox Bounty: 24,000,000 beli". Hamburg laughs "FEH! FEH! FEH! FEH!" while the others react with confusion and sweat drops.

Foxy looms with a massive grin, shouting "WHO CARES ABOUT A SINGLE HORSE, YOU NITWITS! HUNTING SOME ANIMALS IS MERELY A SIDESHOW!" and "FOXY'S MY NAME! I'M A MAN WHO GETS WHATEVER HE WANTS!" A fish-man crewmate yells "HOLD IT!" while another panel shows Luffy stretching forward with "GOMU GOMU NO..." and the fish-man declaring "STRAW-HAT LUFFY!!!" Luffy demands "WHY YOU...!" A masked blonde woman displays wanted posters reading "Roronoa Zoro! Bounty: 60,000,000 bell" and "Monkey D. Luffy! Bounty: 100,000,000 bell," stating "Despite having only 7 crew members, the sum total of your pirate crew's bounty is an impressive 160 million!" Foxy's crew confirms "OF COURSE WE KNOW! WE'VE DONE OUR RESEARCH!" Luffy reacts with surprise as someone asks "How do you know my name!I" Impact lines and motion effects fill the confrontation.

Foxy declares "TO A DAVY BACK FIGHT, AS CONDUCTED BY THE ORTHODOX 3-COIN RULE SET!" and "WE'RE THE FOXY PIRATES! WE HEREBY CHALLENGE THE STRAW-HAT PIRATES," tossing coins. Luffy roars back "I'LL GLADLY TAKE YOU ON IF IT'S A FIGHT!" and "I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE HELL YOU'RE BLABBERING ABOUT BUT BRING IT ON!" while pointing forward. The crew panics with "WE'LL LOSE OUR CREWMATES!" and "LUFFY, NO! YOU CAN'T ACCEPT THIS GAME!" Onlookers react: "Ahh...! The ship we came across near this island..." "WE DON'T HAVE ONE!"
